Naso is situated on the Nebrodi Mountains 459 meters above level sea, it was founded in 1218 a .c. by Eolo, Agatirno's son, The God of Winds
The village takes its name from Latin "Nasus",which means protrution Naso probably originally in the middle age, and in the course of the centuries was the property of many feudal families: Cadorna , Artale Alagona, Aragona, Countes Ventimiglia in 1472 Naso become a county.
It was surrounded by walls in all of its perimeter, and was possible to get in the site from five doors, one of these was visible in the oriental zone, while nothing remains of the castle, (only the popular saying" The Casle")that was completely destroyed in 1788. Naso became demanial City thanks to Ferdinando IV.
The most important monuments are the Jesus Saint Mari's Church with the Convent of "Minori Osservanti" of de XV century. |
